The present invention relates to a method for collecting samples of flat objects in a packaging machine said packaging machine including counting and separating means for forming a series of batches as well as assembly means for forming a series of packets. The invention is characterized in that the collection method comprises steps consisting of forming a sample batch consisting of a given number of flat objects by means of the counting and separating means: collecting the sample batch by means of the assembly means; and transferring the sample batch with the assembly means to a dedicated recovery area.
