This invention relates to a an accurate and shorter acetylation method for measurement of fuel ethanol percent in fermented liquid comprising, supplementing 14% (w/v) to 22% of deteriorated sugar solution in water with 0.05% to 0.07% urea, 0.01% to 0.015% disodium hydrogen phosphate and 0.025% to 0.05% hydrated iron oxide, sterilizing the solution at 15 psig for 15 minutes and cooling at room temperature, adding 0.025% to 0.05% active dry yeast in the solution, fermenting the contents at 30°C to 35°C for 72 hours, adding 2 ml of pure acetic anhydride and 40-60ml, preferably 50ml of N-NaOH and titrating excess of NaOH against N/2 HCI using phenolphthalein as indicator till last drop of HC1 gives off a pink color.
