System and method for determining operational parameters of an aircraft and improving the operation of the aircraft. # A method of identifying variations in operational parameters of an aircraft includes processing a trajectory of the aircraft in four dimensions (4D) for a flight along a defined path. The method also includes determining an intent of the corresponding aircraft in flight along the defined path, based at least in part, a model aircraft performance generated by a trajectory predictor. Additionally, the method includes adjusting the parameters of intent so that a 4D computed path substantially corresponds to the trajectory of the aircraft 4D. The method further includes determining an operating parameter calculated, based at least partially on the trajectory calculated and 4D model aircraft performance generated by the trajectory predictor. Additionally, the method includes identifying operational variations between the calculated parameter and a corresponding measured operational parameter.
