Method for making dense ceramic product based on SiC

A process for obtaining pellets useful for the manufacture of a sintered product based on silicon carbide, comprising the following steps: a) mixing a first powder particles of silicon carbide SiC, whose average d50 diameter is 2 micrometers or more than 2 micrometers with a second powder particle boron compound, more particularly particles of boron carbide, whose average diameter D50 is also 2 micron or 2 microns, wherein the content of SiC particles is greater than 90 % by weight of said powder mixture, b) mixing together the mixture of particles of boron compound and SiC until overall average diameter D50 of the resulting particles is from 0.3 to 1 micrometer, c) chemically treating mixing at least by a base solution and then by acid washing, d) mixing the powder mixture from step c) with 1 to 10% by weight, based on the content of carbide silicon, a resin containing carbon, having a miscibility in water higher than 10:50, as measured according to ISO standard 8989, and preferably with a temporary binder and possibly a lubricant, e) drying the mixture resulting from step d) to generate said spray granules.
