A method for producing canna indica biochar capable of adsorbing ammonia nitrogen and cadmium simultaneously, comprising the following steps: 1), preparation of raw materials: after harvesting canna indica, removing impurities and air-drying, then crushing and drying in turn; 2), carbonization under anaerobic conditions: placing the crushed and dried canna indica in a carbonization furnace, then processing carbonization reaction under anaerobic conditions by raising the temperature to 480-520℃ at a rate of 4-6℃/minute, and reacting for 1.8-2.2 hours with heat insulated; 3), cooling the carbonized canna indica obtained from the step 2) to room temperature, crushing and sieving to obtain the canna indica biochar. The producing method overcomes the problems of capability of only aiming at single pollutant, low adsorption efficiency, easiness to cause secondary pollution, high cost and the like in the prior adsorption technique, and simultaneously makes use of plant waste for remediation of water body, therefore has ecological benefits.
