The present invention relates to an anti-cancer composition containing a cicada skin extract and theanine derived therefrom. A cicada skin extract according to the present invention, a cicada skin fraction obtained by fractionating the cicada skin extract, or theanine separated from the cicada skin fraction and yielded, exhibit an excellent ability to inhibit a cancer cell proliferation, and thus being able to be used as a novel anti-cancer drug derived from a natural substance.
