The present invention relates to a method for preparing a heat treated and zinc doped titanium dioxide photocatalyst, which comprises the following steps: (1) preparing a zinc doped titanium dioxide by adding zinc powder to a suspension, in which pure titanium dioxide and distilled water are mixed, and stirring the same; and (2) heating the zinc doped titanium dioxide prepared in step 1 at a temperature of 600-1000 deg. C. The heat treated and zinc doped titanium dioxide photocatalyst prepared by the method of the present invention can fine control physiochemical properties of the titanium dioxide through zinc doping and heat treatment, and thus has a photocatalytic decomposition effect higher than that of a pure titanium dioxide photocatalyst, thereby being able to provide a titanium dioxide photocatalyst which reacts with high efficiency in visible wavelengths.
