The present invention relates to a detector detecting a leakage of fluid from various types of pipe systems, and a pipe leakage detecting method using the same. According to the present invention, the pipe leakage detector comprises: a pipe wherein a fluid flows; a reaction film covering an outer circumference of the pipe; an optical fiber positioned on the outer circumference of the reaction film; a light source connected to one side of the optical fiber, emitting light inside the optical fiber at a preset time interval; and a primary sensor connected to one side of the optical fiber (120), and sensing the information of the reflected light reflected inside the optical fiber. The reaction film is characterized by being composed of a resin containing a substance selectively reacting to a predetermined ingredient contained in the fluid coming in contact with the reaction film. According to the same, the present invention is capable of accurately measuring the leakage of fluid generated in the pipe and a leaked part, and obtaining an effect of preventing a malfunction which may occur due to other influences except for influences of those of the fluid flowing inside the pipe using the reaction film reacting to a measurement ingredient contained in the fluid. Additionally, the present invention is capable of reducing an error of a curvature on a joint part or a natural curvature of a pipe and obtains a reliable result, not only for a long pipe, but also for a short pipe.
