1. A diagnostic ultrasound system that generates color images of a flow or motion velocity, comprising: an ultrasound probe having an array of transducers for transmitting ultrasonic energy and receiving ultrasonic echo signals from a location containing moving tissue or fluid; a Doppler processor sensitive to received echoes -signals to generate Doppler measurements of tissue velocity or blood flow velocity; a motion quantification processor sensitive to Doppler and speed measurements, which converts speed measurements into many different colors for a color Doppler image; a color-sensitive graphics processor that produces a color indicator for display together with a color Doppler image, the color indicator having a finite speed level and a reference level for zero speed, moreover, the colors of the color indicator are configured to demonstrate a distinct color transition at a point between the reference level and the final level m of speed, with a distinct color transition corresponding to speed from the speed range in which the isospeed surface is displayed on the color Doppler image; and a display device coupled to a graphics processor and a motion quantification processor that displays a color Doppler image together with a color indicator. 2. The diagnostic ultrasound system of claim 1, wherein the color indicator further comprises a color bar having a plurality of different colors,
