A method for the determination of a desired - standard value (ymServo) for the of an electric servomotor, which is to be outputted engine torque (mM) in a power steering system for a motor vehicle, whereby as a function of a vehicle speed (vFzg) and of a manual torque (mD) a base - dimensioning value (xB) is determined, characterized in that– as a function of the base - rated value (xB) and of the manual torque (mD) a limited in its pitch stable - dimensioning value (xS) is determined,– as a function of a difference (xD) between the base - dimensioning value (xB) and the stable - dimensioning value (xS) a slowly - dimensioning value (xL) is determined,– the stable - dimensioning value (xS) and of the slowly - dimensioning value (xL) for the formation of the desired - standard value (ymServo) for the servomotor is used.
