PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for cognitive function observation which allow a subject to easily observe a cognitive function while enjoying listening music.SOLUTION: A cognitive function observation system 10 is formed of a panel device 20 and a device body 30. The panel device 20 comprises sensors SA-SI for detecting the fact that buttons 24A-24I are pressed by a user. A routine setting program 44 of the device body 30 sets a routine so that a tone row of specific music is reproduced by repeatedly touching selected one or more buttons in a prescribed order. Then, when the routine is presented to the user by a routine presentation program 46, and the user stores and executes the presented routine, a sound output program 50 refers to a routine table, and outputs a sound corresponding to the pressed button. By repeating the steps, the tone row of the specific music is reproduced and information related to an execution state of the routine is stored as log data 68.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
