PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cation-exchange resin having excellent chemical and mechanical characteristics, and a cation-exchange membrane and a fuel battery electrolyte membrane using the same.SOLUTION: The cation-exchange resin comprises a bivalent hydrophobic unit and a bivalent hydrophilic unit, the bivalent hydrophilic unit comprising a single aromatic ring, or a plurality of aromatic rings which are mutually bonded through a bivalent hydrocarbon group, a bivalent silicon-containing group, a bivalent nitrogen-containing group, a bivalent phosphorous-containing group, a bivalent oxygen-containing group, a bivalent sulfur-containing group, or a carbon-carbon bond, where bivalent hydrophilic groups, in which at least one of the aromatic rings has a cation-exchange group, are repeated through carbon-carbon bonds, and where the hydrophobic unit and the hydrophilic unit are bonded through a carbon-carbon bond.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
