PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material thickness detection device that can accurately detect the thickness of a sheet material and can reduce cost.SOLUTION: A sheet material thickness detection device comprises: a guide member that guides a sheet material being conveyed; a non-rotational pressing member that presses the sheet material against a guide surface of the guide member while capable of being displaced according to the thickness of the sheet material; a sensor that magnetically or electrically detects a displacement of the pressing member that is displaced according to the thickness of the sheet material; and calculation means that calculates the thickness of the sheet material on the basis of a signal output from the sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
