PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable anyone to replace or restring koto strings in a simple manner and in a short time using a fraction of arm force, and solve the problem that koto players all over the country request a professional koto dealer to have their koto strings conventionally replaced or restrung which normally requires koto string costs, travel expenses and work costs, as the work requires strong arm force and technical skills.SOLUTION: Provided is a string replacing device for a koto (a Japanese harp), that includes: a tool 2 for nipping and fastening a koto string to a sound hole, that is engaged with and fitted to the sound hole of a koto; and a tool 1 for nipping, fastening and stretching a koto string by utilizing a leverage, as koto string stretching means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
