PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to ensure best compliance by operating personnel with finger hygiene standards.SOLUTION: Benchmarks of compliance with finger hygiene standards regarding object organizations are specified on the basis of observations of finger hygiene opportunities at testing organizations and the relationship between the number of observed finger hygiene opportunities and characteristics of testing organizations. Benchmarks regarding object organizations are specified on the basis of organizational characteristics at the object organizations and the relationship between organizational characteristics at the testing organizations and the observed finger hygiene opportunities. Benchmarks regarding object organizations are adjusted on the basis of direct observation of finger hygiene opportunities at the object organizations.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
