PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the throat resistance in real time during operation and use the results in furnace pressure control, etc.SOLUTION: In a method of calculating the throat resistance of a converter exhaust gas treatment apparatus, concentration data obtained by measuring concentrations of gases contained in exhaust gas, flow rate data obtained by measuring the flow rate of exhaust gas a first time before the times of measuring the concentration data, with the first time determined according to time differences between the measurement of concentrations of the gases and measurement of the exhaust gas flow rate, and furnace pressure data obtained by measuring a furnace pressure, or a difference pressure between the in-furnace pressure and the atmospheric pressure, a second time before the times of measuring the concentration data, with the second time determined according to time differences between the measurement of concentrations of the gases and measurement of the furnace pressure, are acquired. When the furnace pressure data shows suction of air from the throat, an amount of air sucked from the throat is calculated on the basis of the flow rate data and the concentration data, and a throat resistance is calculated on the basis of the furnace pressure data and the air suction amount. When the furnace pressure does not show suction of air from the throat, a throat resistance is calculated on the basis of throat resistances calculated previously.
