One aspect of the present disclosure relates to a system that can adjust the intensity of a neural stimulation signal over time. The pulse generator may be configured to generate a stimulation signal for stimulating the nerve tissue of the individual and adjust a parameter related to the intensity of the pulse in the pattern of the stimulation signal over time. An electrode may be coupled to the pulse generator, and the electrode may be configured to apply a stimulation signal to the neural tissue. Each pulse of the stimulation signal can be used to mobilize a collection of axons in neural tissue.
