PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter formation substrate for an LCD display panel of a lateral electric field system, capable of solving a defect such as a damage of a transparent conductive layer on a rear face of a color filter formation substrate mainly intended for static electricity countermeasure when rubbing in display panel formation, and capable of securely suppressing orientation disorder of a liquid crystal through suppressing disturbance of a lateral electric field when used for a display panel.;SOLUTION: From a transparent substrate side, a black matrix, a pigmented layer for a color filter of each color, and an overcoat layer are arranged in this order. A columnar object is further arranged on the overcoat layer, for maintaining a clearance to a TFT formation substrate when producing a display panel of a lateral electric field system. The black matrix has a lamination structure laminating a conductive chromium layer, a shading resin layer from the transparent substrate side in this order, opens at a color filter region for each color.
