The present invention relates to the use of 2,5-bis (aminomethyl) furan as a hardener for resin components made of epoxy resin and reactive diluent and a corresponding hardening composition, the hardening of said composition and the hardened epoxy resin may be obtained from said composition. The present invention further relates to the use of 2,5-bis (aminomethyl) furan as a hardener for the production of epoxy resin based coatings, in particular floor coatings having early water resistance.
