The present disclosure provides asodium ion battery comprising a cathode and an anode, wherein the cathode comprises a composition of xNa2M03(l-x)NaMlM2M3M4M502, wherein x = 0.05 - 0.45, and M, Ml, M2, M3, M4, M5 is independently selected from a group consisting of Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Al and Mg. The disclosure also provides a process for producing the above cathode material and a method of producing sodium ion battery using cathode material thereof.
