In one of the aspect of the invention it is provided that a method for synthesis and characterisation of LaF3: Pr3+, Ho3+ nanocrystals by an aqueous route using microwave assisted technique operated at low power range. The synthesis and characterization using various techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Photoluminescence Spectra (PL Spectra), Ultra- Violet spectra and Nonlinear Optical (NLO) analysis have been carried out and reported here. In the other aspect of the invention it is provided that multifunctional properties of the doped lanthanum fluoride nanoparticles , the properties includes anti-microbial, anti¬oxidant and mosquito larvicidal activity of synthesised nanomaterials for possible biomedical applications.
