An apparatus, a method and a control unit for supplying a predefined weight of a material is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a source reservoir for supplying the material to a sink reservoir. A flow control device disposed between the source reservoir and the sink reservoir is arranged to be actuated for a predefined period of time to supply a predefined quantity of the material to the sink reservoir. With the density of the material, the cross sectional area of the flow path created by the opening of the flow control device and the flow velocity of the material across the flow path known, the period of time for which the flow control device is to be opened for supplying a predefined quantity of material can be determined.
