Procedure for in situ decontamination of land or groundwater contaminated by halogenated organic compounds by means of iron of zero valence, characterized in that it comprises a stage of injection into the ground of an aqueous suspension of reactive particles constituted by a molten material in aqueous suspension, presenting 95% of the reactive particles with a diameter of less than or equal to 20 μm, less than 5% of the reactive particles with a diameter of less than 2 μm and the suspension not comprising any organic compound or source of organic carbon other than the reactive particles, liable to be subject to biological degradation.
