A patent information push method during product update alerts and an information alert system. The method comprises: recording the names of products already bought by a user (S101); establishing correspondence between the user account and the names of the products bought under the user account (S102); searching for newly available products (S103); comparing the names of the newly available products to the names of the products bought by the user (S104); if the name of a newly available product is similar to the name of a product bought by the user, transmitting update information to the user account according to the correspondence, and pushing patent information to a seller (S105). A user may combine patent information with product features as experienced by the user, thus maximizing the value created by the invention.
