Disclosed is an electronic device. The electronic device includes a communication unit (101), a storage unit (100) and at least one processor (103). The communication unit (101) communicates with a plurality of user terminals and an external device. The storage unit (100) stores information on a plurality of users and a plurality of contents. When receiving encrypted preference data of a user for first contents among a plurality of contents from at least one of the plurality of user terminals, the at least one processor (103) transmits the encrypted preference data to the external device, receives characteristic data generated by external calculation and re-encryption of the encrypted preference data, performs internal calculation of information on the plurality of users and the plurality of contents using the received characteristic data, predicts a user preference for contents different from the first contents of which the preference is input based on the information on the plurality of users and the plurality of contents to which the internal calculation is performed, and provides information on the different contents of which the preference is predicted. Further, calculations may be performed while being efficiently distributed to the at least one processor (103) and the external device.
