R2* Method to remove impact of amount of myelin and nurve bunle directivity in R2* in the magnetic resonance imaging

Disclosed is an image processing method for generating a post-processed white matter susceptibility map by using the best-fit estimation equation for a data set including susceptibility values of white matters also known as property values of white matters. The estimation equation includes a correction term determined in accordance with the property values of the while matters. The post-processing operation used by the method includes the steps of: (1) using the property values of the white matters corresponding to a voxel present in a measurement space to determine the value of the correction term; and (2) calculating values of the post-processed white matters by subtracting the value of the determined correction term from the white matter susceptibility values corresponding to the voxel.
