FIELD: measuring equipment.;SUBSTANCE: method for determining relative position between the first housing and a coil is carried out using a position sensor unit. The method consists in sending an ascending branch of the digital input signal pulse from the control unit to the power switch (16) to create a change in the state of the power switch (16) from opened to closed. In the control unit, the first change in the state of the output signal from the comparator (15) is detected. The realtive position between the first housing (10) and the coil (11) is determined based on the time delay between the ascending branch of the input signal pulse and the first change in the state of the output signal. The method may also consist in detecting the second change in the state of the output signal in the control unit. The realtive position between the first houding (10) and the coil (11) may be determined based on the delay between the first change in the state of the output signal and the second change in the state of the output signal.
