PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel cobalt manganese composite hydroxide serving as a precursor of a positive electrode active material that in use for a lithium ion secondary battery, allows the lithium ion secondary battery to have a high output.SOLUTION: Provided are nickel cobalt manganese composite hydroxide particles represented by the general formula: NiCoMnM(OH), where x+y+z+t=1, 0.05≤x≤0.3, 0.1≤y≤0.4, 0.6≤z≤0.8, 0≤t≤0.1, 0≤a≤0.5, and M is one or more kinds of additive elements selected from Mg, Ca, Al, Ti, V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Mo and W. Secondary particles of the nickel cobalt manganese composite hydroxide particles have a structure of agglomerated primary particles which are composed of needle plate-shaped crystals.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
