DEVICE, METHOD, AND GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE FOR TRANSITING BETWEEN DISPLAY STATES IN RESPONSE TO GESTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which is faster and more efficient to operate a user interface.SOLUTION: An electronic device displays a user interface which is in a first display state. The device detects a first portion of a gesture on a touch-sensitive surface including detection of intensity of each contact of the gesture. In response to the detection of the first portion of the gesture, the device displays an intermediate display state between the first display state and a second display state. In response to detection of termination of the gesture, the device displays the second display state if intensity of each contact has reached a predefined intensity threshold prior to the termination of the gesture, and otherwise the device redisplays the first display state. After displaying animated transition between the first display state and the second display state, the device optionally detects increase of the intensity of contact. Correspondingly, the device continues displaying an animation in accordance with increase of the intensity of each contact.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5B16
