PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell culture substrate which simply and efficiently induces traits for neuronal precursor cells in a certain direction.SOLUTION: The cell culture substrate for inducing traits of nerve cells has a convexoconcave pattern formed on a surface to which the cells adhere such that the convexoconcave width is 50 nm or more and 1,000 nm or less. The method of controlling traits of nerve cells includes culturing neuronal precursor cells on the cell culture substrate for inducing traits of nerve cells. The method of elongating neurite includes culturing neuronal precursor cells on the cell culture substrate for inducing traits of nerve cells. The method of controlling secretion of dopamine includes culturing neuronal precursor cells on the cell culture substrate for inducing traits of nerve cells. The method of controlling acetylcholine esterase activity includes culturing neuronal precursor cells on the cell culture substrate for inducing traits of nerve cells.SELECTED DRAWING: None
