PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phthalocyanine compound that has excellent light resistance and widely absorbs light in a near infrared radiation area, a method for producing the same and a use for the compound.SOLUTION: A phthalocyanine compound can be synthesized from, for example, substituted phthalonitrile (A-3) represented by the following formula and 3,6-bis(pentyloxy)-4,5-bis(1,1,1-trifluoroethoxy)phthalonitrile or from (A-3) and 3,6-bis(pentyloxy)-4,5-dichlorophthalonitrile, in the presence of vanadium chloride.SELECTED DRAWING: None
