The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a strontium oxide crystal having a structure similar to a cesium chloride type structure and having excellent stability in a simple manner even under an atmospheric pressure. This method for producing a strontium oxide crystal having a structure similar to a cesium chloride type structure is characterized by comprising a step of heating a strontium compound and a magnesium compound in a reductive atmosphere while bringing these compounds into contact with each other.
