PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new functional peptides that are expected to be useful for the biophylaxis of frogs such as antibacterial action or the like, the new functional peptides being derived from frog skin, specifically amphibian Xenopus tropicalis skin.SOLUTION: This invention provides any of peptides named Pxt-1 to Pxt-11, respectively. Amino-acid sequences of the Pxt-1 to the Pxt-11 are as follows. Pxt-1: IRPIPFIPRGGKT, Pxt-2: FIGALLRPALKLLA, Pxt-3: GLKEVAHSAKKFAKGFISGLTGS, Pxt-4: LKGASKLIPHLLPSRQQ, Pxt-5: FIGALLGPLLNLLK, Pxt-6: IRPVPFFPPVHAKKVFPLH, Pxt-7: Pyr-GLIGTLTAKQIKK, Pxt-8: IRPIPFIPR, Pxt-9: GLKEVAHSAKKF, Pxt-10: LMGTLISKQMKK, and Pxt-11: Pyr-GLMGTLISKQMKK. Here, Pyr is a pyroglutamic acid residue, and C terminals of the Pxt-1 to the Pxt-11 are each independently COOH or CONH.
