PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, when carrying out the replacement from existing horizontal axis type aeration agitator unit to vertical axis type aeration agitator unit, a vertical axis type aeration agitator unit that can suppress the change of the existing portion to the minimum, and to provide a replacement method for aeration agitator unit.SOLUTION: Provided is a vertical axis type aeration agitator unit in which the shaft is divided into a first shaft 41 that is attached with an impeller 43, and a second shaft 42 that is to be connected to the first shaft, and thereby the mounting opening 7 of horizontal axis type aeration agitator unit can directly be utilized and replaced to vertical axis type aeration agitator unit, thus the change of the existing portion can be suppressed to the minimum.
