PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent (EL) element, using an aromatic heterocyclic derivative, having high light-emitting efficiency and a light-emitting lifetime, whose aging effect is small even when being used under high temperature, and to provide a display device and an illumination device, including the same.SOLUTION: The organic EL element includes at least one organic layer containing a light-emitting layer held between a positive electrode and a negative electrode. At least one of the organic layers contains an aromatic heterocyclic derivative having a structure represented by a general formula (1) or (2).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
