The application describes a method for converting a raw material containing a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide to hydrocarbons, where hydrogen and carbon monoxide are contained in the raw material in a volume ratio of 1: 9 to 9: 1, the method includes the step of introducing the raw material into interaction with the catalyst titanium dioxide and cobalt, at elevated temperature and at atmospheric or elevated pressure, where the catalyst initially contains from 30 to 95% metallic cobalt, calculated on the weight of cobalt.
