Seismic damage-resistant system for multi-storey buildings

The present invention seeks to provide improvements to modular buildings in high seismic regions, as these buildings can possess seismic weaknesses which make them vulnerable to significant damage in a moderate to severe earthquake. This invention provides a slider device configured to slidably connect vertically adjacent upper and lower modules in a building having an upper wall track connected to an upper module, a lower wall track connected to a lower module, an elastic unit connected to each wall track, a confining plate on top of each elastic unit configured to confine the rubber block in a vertical direction, a rod adapted to fit through an aperture in each wall track, elastic unit and confining plate, and wherein the elastic unit comprises a rubber block to provide resisted movement in one horizontal direction in response to horizontal forces during a seismic event.
