A method of motion compensation, the method comprising: determining in a reference image luma, a reference block for luma prediction of a current block using a motion vector of the current block luma; generate a luma sample location of a 1/2 pixel, a 1/4 pixel location and a location of 3/4 pixel in the reference block of luma by applying an interpolation filter of 8 shots at luma samples of a pixel location of integer value of the reference image luma; determining, in a reference image chroma, a reference block chroma for predicting a current block using a motion vector of the current block chroma; and generate one chroma sample for a location 1/2 pixel in the reference block chroma by applying an interpolation filter to samples of chroma of a pixel location of integer value of the reference image chroma, wherein the interpolation filter comprises eight 8-tap filter coefficients to generate the luma sample location 1/2 pixel, which are {-1, 4, -11, 40, 40, -11, 4, -1}, where the luma motion vector indicates a sub-pixel location of a unit 1/4 pixel in reference image luma, wherein the filter coefficients of the interpolation filter 8 takes to generate the luma sample location 1/4 pixel are the same, but arranged in reverse order, the filter coefficients of the interpolation filter 8 takes to generate the luma sample location 3 / 4 pixel.
