A method for creating an average statistical model of dentinoenamel junction, comprising the steps of: acquiring the image data in a computerized tomography, CT, of a tooth; segmenting (S100) image data of the TAC for a surface of a dentinoenamel junction; segmenting (S200) of the surface obtained by using a clustering algorithm based on the curvature to remove a background of the dentinoenamel junction, in which a pattern of triangular grid is used to simulate the dentinoenamel junction and wherein said clustering algorithm based on the curvature comprises computing the normal vectors at the vertices of the triangular grid pattern and computing the curvatures at the vertices of triangular grid model based on these normal vectors; spherical parameterization (S300), by a harmonic analysis spherical surface of the dentinoenamel junction after background removal; and alignment S (400) of different samples of the tooth to obtain an average statistical model.
