METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR NON-INTRUSIVE PROGRAM TRACING FOR EMBEDDED COMPUTING SYSTEMS

Systems and methods for non-intrusive program tracing of a device aredisclosed. The method includes providing a database storing a plurality ofcandidate samples, each of the candidate samples being associated with atleastone of a known portion of program code and an observed behavior; generatingan analog program trace signal from at least one of power consumption andelectromagnetic emission of the device; digitizing the analog program tracesignal into a digital program trace signal; collecting a fragment of thedigitalprogram trace signal; using hardware to determine a distance between thefragment with each of the candidate samples simultaneously; determining if thedistance between the fragment and at least one of the candidate samplessatisfies a pre-determined criterion; and in response to determining that thepre-determined criterion is satisfied, classifying the fragment as one of thecandidatesamples, based on the distance between the fragment with each of the candidatesamples.
