The method is provided with a step S12 for detecting a second pen-down, a step S13 for activating operation to receive an uplink signal based on mode A over a prescribed time in accordance with the second pen-down being detected, and a step S17 for setting the operation mode of the stylus 2 to an operation mode A for transmitting/receiving a signal based on mode A when the uplink signal based on mode A is received within the prescribed time.
