Provided is an azo pigment, which can be used as a colorant, etc. for paints, plastics, synthetic fibers, printing inks, and writing materials or for image recording or image display and which has the property of exhibiting high infrared reflection/transmission particularly when used as a heat-blocking paint even when the pigment has a dark color, and as a result, colored items having said properties are provided. Moreover, an item that is also useful as printing ink in the security field is provided, particularly when the pigment has a dark or black color. Specifically, an azo pigment is provided, the azo pigment being obtained by a coupling reaction between a specific diazo component and a specific coupling component and having multiple azomethine group and azo group chromophores in a molecule, wherein the diazo component is a diazotization product of 3-(4-aminophenylimino)-1-oxo-4,5,6,7-tetrachloroisoindoline.
