The present invention relates to an RF fingerprinting method and apparatus based on a sparse representation classifier (SRC). At least one characteristic parameter included in the RF signals of a plurality of communication devices is extracted to form a training signal. After that, the unique characteristic factors of each of the communication devices existing in a currently received RF signal are searched. It is identified which of the communication devices transmits the corresponding RF signal. So, it is possible to identify homogeneous and heterogeneous communication devices and also to maintain good communication device identification performance in multi-access or multi-path environments. The RF fingerprinting apparatus includes an RP receiving part and an SRC classifier.
