The present invention provides a method for producing high purity hydrogen and a water gas reaction system therefor. The method comprises: a pretreatment step of removing impurities from a steelmaking process exhaust gas stream containing carbon monoxide; a step of producing a stream containing hydrogen and carbon dioxide using carbon monoxide in a water gas shift (WGS) reactor; a step of producing steam which flows into a water gas shift reaction using heat generated from the water gas shift reaction; a step of heating the steam in a boiler; and a post-treatment step of obtaining hydrogen.
