The present invention relates to a wireless local area network (WLAN)-based healthcare system, using a low-power WLAN protocol to transmit a biometric signal to an information utilization institution at a predetermined time period so as to monitor a state of a farmer/fishman in real-time. According to the present invention, the WLAN-based healthcare system comprises: a biometric measurement device installed at a predetermined position of an examinee to transmit biometric information of a blood flow, which is measured by receiving a light of an infrared band outputted from a light source and reflected after penetrating the skin of the examinee through a light receiving device, through a WLAN-based communication network; and a healthcare server to receive and process the biometric information provided from the biometric measurement device in real-time and to transmit the processed biometric information to the information utilization institution. Accordingly, the pulse and body temperature of a farmer/fishman provided from a biometric sensor are transmitted to the information utilization institution in real-time through the WLAN-based communication network, thereby quickly executing action and cure in accordance with an emergency state of a patient through real-time monitoring of a state of the farmer/fishman.
