A nanostructured carbon material can be obtained from citrus peel by adding an alkali activator to the citrus peel and then treating the same with heat, thereby enabling easy and simple acquisition of nanostructured carbon materials without undergoing previous complicated processes. The acquired nanostructured carbon material contains different elements, has nano-scaled pores, and exhibits outstanding electrochemical performance. In addition, owing to excellent features such as charge storability, charging/discharging behaviors, and lifespan properties, the energy storage device using the same can be useful as the energy storage devices.
