The present invention relates to a DC power cable intermediate connection system capable of mitigating the concentration of an electric field in a portion where insulation is weak in a connection structure of a DC power cable, and to an intermediate connection box for a DC power cable. The intermediate connection box for a DC power cable of the present invention includes a pair of DC power cables and an intermediate connection box for connecting the DC power cables to each other. The DC power cables include: a conductor; an inner semi-conductive layer formed to surround the conductor; a cable insulation layer; an outer semi-conductive layer formed to surround the cable insulation layer; and a metal sheath formed to surround the outer semi-conductive layer. The intermediate connection box for a DC power cable includes a conductor connection portion for electrically connecting conductors of the pair of cables to each other; a first reinforcing insulating layer; a second reinforcing insulating layer; and an electric field shift layer.
