The glass carbon electrode was functionalized through carbamic acid oxidation to produce aminated glass carbon electrode. The aminated glass carbon electrode can be used to detect the element by detecting the change in oxidation current during the urease decomposition by urease. The silk fibroin structure with urea enzyme fixation was used to locate the urease in proximity to the aminated GCE. The prepared bioelectrode (Ur / SF / aminated GCE) was used for urea detection by using the excitation voltage current (CV). The fabricated element sensing system shows a high sensitivity and linear correlation between current and urea concentration. The urease-functionalized silk fibroin film can be easily replaced with other membranes made in the same batch, and thus the urea detection system of the present invention can be effectively used for portable element detection devices.
