FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method and apparatus for transferring a process fluid from one process stage to another. Method comprises steps of discharging process fluid of a first consistency from a washing and thickening device, feeding process liquid into a vertical pipe, diluting the process fluid to a second consistency, i.e., to an average consistency, providing the vertical pipe with a device for measuring the level of the surface of the process fluid in the vertical pipe, wherein the measuring device has a surface level control interval with an upper limit for adjusting the surface level and a lower limit for adjusting the surface level to maintain, during use, the process fluid level between the upper and lower limits of surface level control, discharging the process fluid of second consistency from said vertical pipe by means of a pump installed in hydraulic communication with the discharge outlet provided in the vertical pipe.;EFFECT: according to the invention, a stage for maintaining the process fluid in the surface level control range in the vertical pipe with an average consistency, i.e., a third consistency, is added, wherein the third consistency is at least 1,5 times greater than the second consistency.;21 cl, 8 dwg
