The timed opening mechanism of the feed head comprises: - a frame provided with openings for introducing animal heads, - an arm fixed to the frame adjacent to each of the openings, movable between a position in which it prohibits the withdrawal an animal head and a position in which it authorizes removal of said head; - A control rod (16) rotatable along its longitudinal axis between a first position in which it is adapted to immobilize the arms and a second position in which it is adapted to release the arms; - locking means (20) of the control bar in the first position, comprising timing means adapted to disable the locking means at the end of a predetermined period; - an elastic member (30) adapted to drive the control bar in the second position; a disengaging member (60) for locking means.
